Chicken Corner near Dead Horse Point, Utah. I generally prefer to shoot landscape without people in them, but the ATV rider anchored the image, created perspective and added to the story that the image had to share.

This is my youngest, Sean. He was 11 years old when I took him to the dunes for the first time. For an 11 year old he was really aggressive and had no problem handling the 500 pound machine.

Riding ATVs in the Little Sahara Dunes can be dangerous. Accidents are common, but most are minor. This weekend was particularly bad. In only a few hours we witnessed four Life Flights, something I've never seen on the dunes before. Two riders were injured. Only one survived.

This was a tough picture to get. I had to work myself along a cliff ledge that dropped hundreds of feet. I was hugging the rocks for dear life and shot with one hand. It took me 30 minutes to stop shaking. I would never do it again.

This is Temple Mountain in south central Utah shot through the window of an old mining building that is gradually collapsing.

I was driving up the south fork of the Provo Canyon and saw this little "Holiday Shack". I sold this image to a company that distributes holiday decorations. They used it in their catalog. I've also sold it as a framed fine art print.

The American Fork River. The first snows of winter make everything in the mountains look black and white. The splash of color from the fall leaves made for an intriguing contrast.

The blue sky, snow and rocks along the ridges in Logan Canyon become almost abstracts of nature. It takes just a moment to realize what you are seeing.

Most people think this is a shot of a guy on a snowmobile, but it is an ATV disguised as a snowmobile. While sledding in a large gravel pit I captured this image at dusk. We had several feet of fresh powder and to help the kids get back to the top of the hill Steve would tow kids up the hill behind a 4X4 ATV. Once at the top he would punch the gas and fly back down the hill, sometimes completely disappearing in a cloud of powder. The headlights give off an eerie glow creating some interesting colors.

I got some new snow shoes and wanted to try them out. I took off one morning before sunrise, by myself, in a steady snow storm. I wanted to record the event so I set my tripod up and took this shot. A few weeks later very near here several teanagers were killed when they triggered an avalanche while trying to snowboard the new snow.

I captured this image on a snowshoe trip. I was headed back to my vehicle and the drifts of snow against the pine trees caught my eye. It is best to view this one a little larger to see the detailed texture of the snow. Just click on it.

This calm and peaceful reflection isn't what you might think. This is a puddle in a parking lot. The image was shot by putting the camera on a monopod, setting the timer and then placing the camera upside down just a fraction of an inch above the water. The puddle is not more than an inch or two deep but created the perception of a lake or pond from this perspective.

I took the entire family golfing and we got hit by a thunderstorm that drove us off the course. I captured this image as the storm passed by and the sun was setting.

This was a week long camping trip at Kent's Lake in the Fish Lake National Forest. We had some great sunsets.
