Winter Cabin Retreat
Our neighbors let us use their cabin for a little family escape. We generally go up in the summer so this was a new experience. The cabin is just short of 9,000 feet and already had about 10" of wet snow on the ground. The kids had to leave their cars at the base of the mountain and we used the truck to transport everyone to the cabin. Sunday evening it got cold and started snowing again. By morning we couldn't get the truck out. It was too icy. We tried and the truck would slide out of control even in four wheel drive and the brakes locked. Logan and I had to hitch a ride down to Heber, buy chains and hitch a ride back up the mountain to put them on the truck. Once we had the chains on we could go anywhere we wanted. It was an expensive little escape, but we sure had fun.
