2nd annual Magleby Cabin Escape

Finn Family Staycation : We had Lisa's Finnish family come to visit this summer. They spent nearly two weeks with us and we had a wonderful time. Lisa packed the days with many activities. We hiked to Timp Caves, Steweart Fall and Cascade Springs, visited Park City, shopped the outlet stores and rode the alpine slide and zip line. We went to Moab and Dead Horse Point, hiked to Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch in 105 degree temperatures. We rode the Heber Valley Railroad and got kidnapped by train robbers who took us on a long horse ride in the mountains. We went boating on Deer Creek with good friends and had more fun than you can imagine on tubes pulled behind the boat. We visited Lisa parents in Logan and had family photos that could be the last photos we every have all together. We ate too much and laughed even more. Magleby's ATV Escape - 2008 : Our neighbors went with us to Moore's Old Pine Inn in Marysvale last year to go ATV riding. One of the couples, the Maglebys, have family in the area and have high mountain property and a cabin on their own private lake. This year we all stayed at their family cabin 9 miles out of Koosharem, at 9,400 feet. We had seven couples, perfect weather and great food. There are rumors among the group that this is a new tradition and the 1st annual event - or so we all hope.

Winter Cabin Retreat : Our neighbors let us use their cabin for a little family escape. We generally go up in the summer so this was a new experience. The cabin is just short of 9,000 feet and already had about 10" of wet snow on the ground. The kids had to leave their cars at the base of the mountain and we used the truck to transport everyone to the cabin. Sunday evening it got cold and started snowing again. By morning we couldn't get the truck out. It was too icy. We tried and the truck would slide out of control even in four wheel drive and the brakes locked. Logan and I had to hitch a ride down to Heber, buy chains and hitch a ride back up the mountain to put them on the truck. Once we had the chains on we could go anywhere we wanted. It was an expensive little escape, but we sure had fun.

Paiute ATV Trail Ride : Every year we go to Marysvale, Utah and stay at Moore's Old Pine Inn. From there we ride ATVs all over the Paiute Trail system, which has 3,000 miles of trails. We average over 100 miles every day. We love it.

Cross Country RV Trip : Sean attended the National Scout Jamboree with his cousin Zak from Minnesota. We drove out to pick him up and visit Heidi's family. We didn't have a ton of time but we made the most of it stopping at many places along the way. The trailer made it nice because we were able stop and go any place, any time. We even spent a night in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Sioux Falls, SD. Not a good idea if it is hot.
